Notes: This event was one of the earliest USHRA events televised. As proof of this, USHRA president Tony Batero was actually a color commentator for ESPN at this event. Mike Mickell, driving Excaliber, was disqualified even though he won the race because he stopped temporarily and blocked Diehl Wilson's lane. Kevin Dabney could not get Blue Thunder started, giving Bob Chandler and Bigfoot a bye run into the finals. During the final, Bigfoot breaks some driveline components and was not able to finish the race, giving the Virginia Giant a win by default.
