This would be the final appearance in TNT for Duane Dagit's Thumper truck. Jeff Dane pushed King Kong a little too hard in the quarterfinals and broke the right front wheel, giving Larry Garvel's Texas Stomper an easy win. Larry Cook, driving the Texas Toy, would have advanced to the finals, if not for a broken tire and a couple of bent control arms.
