Notes: This event marked the first time TNT ever put on a side-by-side monster truck race of this magnitude. In all, 16 trucks competed, though not all trucks were televised. During the ATV mud race, a 16 year old Greg Holbrook is the first to make it all the way through the pit. A little over 3 years later he would be vying for the world championship TNT monster truck crown in the Equalizer truck that had not even been conceived at this point in 1987. Dennis Anderson's Grave Digger broke the power steering trying to make the turn, giving John Moore's No Problem an easy win. Dale Harris' Casper had the standard 66-inch tires for this event, instead of the normal 73's it normally wore. However, it wouldn't matter as it blew the engine halfway through the race with Jim Kramer's Bigfoot. Bob Chandler's Bigfoot Shuttle was not scheduled to compete in the event, however a truck failed to show, so TNT allowed Chandler to race the Shuttle as a one-time thing. With a stock motor in it, Chandler was able to drive his way to the finals.
