Weekend Race Recap

nWo debuted in San Antonio! NO, not the next member of the WCW nWo - the newest USHRA Monster Truck! That's right, Rob Knell was steering this bulky beast around the competition. He tore out of the tunnel to a funky WCW theme song and on to compete in the freestyle against Goldberg, another USHRA Monster debuting earlier in this season.
Tom Meents was deemed more than worthy to drive the Golden monster by Goldberg himself at it's debut in Atlanta, GA in early January. And Meents did more than prove himself once again during the San Antonio freestyle.
In an all-out, knock-down, winner-take-all rampage, Meents drove up the concrete barrior and flipped the truck straight up in the air. Exploding gold flakes into the air everywhere, Goldberg rolled over. There was much destruction and everyone was concerned for Meents. "Was he alright?" the gasping crowd was interpreted. Sure enough! Meents clamored out from the guts of the truck with steering wheel in hand. He waved it to the crowd in triumph. He earned a perfect score, but if more points were available he would have taken those home too!
Not to be without her own San Antonio glory, Sand Drag driver, Shay Clark finished first on Friday and second on Saturday. She was an obvious favorite of the crowd judging by the ardent whoops and hollars that rang out in support and adoration of her.
A truly fantastic show!
