Date: March 1987? (aired in June '87)
Track: Indoors, side-by-side down a long straight stretch to an outside turn, two sets of 3 cars, an inside turn and a short straight stretch. Finish line is at the starting line.
Lineup: Jim Oldaker (Rollin' Thunder), Jeff Bainter (Hot Stuff), Cliff Starbird (Frankenstein), Barry Wentz (Monster Vette), Jim Kramer (Bigfoot V), Cliff Starbird (Wild Stang)
Results:
Round 1: Bainter def. Oldaker Wentz def. Frankenstein Wild Stang bye
Semifinals: Bainter def. Wild Stang Wentz bye
Finals: Bainter def. Wentz
Notes: Bainter had won every USHRA event he'd entered with Hot Stuff up to and including this event. Bainter's first USHRA event was in Anaheim '87. This was the last USHRA event for Jim Oldaker's Rollin' Thunder, which was painted red at this event, as opposed to the famous orange. Barry Wentz drove Cliff Starbird's machines, though Cliff owned three of the trucks in the show (Frankenstein, Monster Vette and Wild Stang), so that head-to-head competition could take place. This was the first event for Starbird's Wild Stang mustang convertible, which blew the transmission in its first race.

Starbird actually drove Monster Vette in the finals, as opposed to Wentz, even though Wentz won the first round race while driving the Vette against Cliff in Frankenstein.

It may have been a rerun, I originally taped it in June of '87. I was just using that as a guide for the time of year, so I knew it was prior to June.
