Notes: Dennis Anderson broke the front driveshaft in qualifying on the Grave Digger. Anderson then disqualified himself in a losing effort, by not hitting the second set of cars with both front wheels. Scott Stephens' King Krunch still was missing the hood from the previous race, though Stephens said the truck was ok. In winning the first round race, Mike Wine's Jersey Outlaw broke the front driveshaft (which he'd do again in the 2nd round), a problem they'd been having for some time. Knowing this, they painted the driveshaft a different color. It turns out that the rear end of the truck was angled too low, and was binding the driveshafts. Steve Wilke's crash of USA-1 was one of the worst in the history of the sport at that time. Wilke was a little off-center in hitting the second set of cars, and as the left front tire hit in between the cars, it rolled the entire front axle out from under the truck. At this point in time USA-1 was outdated, almost 3 1/2 years old and had rolled 8 times. After the first race of the second round, Stephens' King Krunch and Dave Wieczorek's Night Life collide, though neither truck is injured. John Piant's Bigfoot, substituting for the banned Andy Brass and Bigfoot VIII, hit the wall while losing to Greg Holbrook and Equalizer.
