Notes: Equalizer and Bigfoot were running 1-2 in the points standings at this time of the year. Equalizer had an easy run to round 2, as Gary Wiggins' Mopar Magic spit out the front driveshaft in qualifying. Nick Rossi had just secured a national sponsorship in SuperWinch for Jersey Outlaw and driver Mike Wine a couple weeks prior to this event, which they had hoped would vault them to the top, unfortunately they never quite got there. In a perfect example, Jersey Outlaw with Wine driving, lost a driveshaft in the quarterfinals. This would be Anthony Fortier's last '90 TNT event in the Pony Express, several months after winning one of the first events of the year in Charleston. For the second year in a row, Bill Weaver and Rambo would make their only TNT appearance of the year in West Lebanon, as it was close to home. The Bigfoot team was having major problems with Bigfoot VIII this whole weekend. They had a sway bar problem, which was causing the truck to turn, sometimes violently, to the right. The crew worked on the truck every run, and by the end of the night they had just about solved the problem.
