Notes: This event took place on Greg Holbrook's 19th birthday. John Kwasniewski's Buffalo Tremor was having problems all weekend due to running gas as opposed to alcohol in the engine. This was due to the max. cubic inch limit TNT instituted earlier in the year. Kwasniewski only advanced from the first round due to Marvin Smith being disqualified for redlighting Wild Hair. Jesse Birgy nearly rolled the brand new Play'n for Keeps truck in the shutdown area after his race with Greg Holbrook's Equalizer. It was quite a surprise for Steve Cain and King Kong to win this event legitimately, even though Holbrook blew the transmission in the final. King Kong, at this time was around 4 years old, as it was built in the middle of 1986, and underwent several updates between then and 1990. King Kong, however, was not run competitively in TNT for almost 2 years before Bowling Green 1990. It was mostly used as a show truck, while Awesome Kong was run for the points championship TNT races. At this time, Awesome Kong was being rebuilt, and would re-debut at Stafford Springs several weeks later, under the King Kong name. The King Kong truck that won this event was destroyed a week later in Myrtle Beach, SC in the famous police car fire crash.
