David Morris was driving No Problem, his first appearance for TNT since quitting the Equalizer team earlier in the season. Gary Porter's Carolina Crusher nearly didn't make it to the starting line after a bad battery wouldn't let him start the truck. Dennis Anderson broke the rear driveshaft during his quarterfinal race with Steve Cain's King Kong. Greg Holbrook beat John Piant after Bigfoot IV hesitated at the starting line. Kurt Fisher's Micro Machine slipped the transmission in losing to Anderson and Grave Digger. In the finals, Anderson stripped the tranfer case.
