Notes: Dale Hancock flips Krimson Krusher, the first time he had flipped one of his trucks. This was one of the first times TNT had tried a track built like this - with a dirt hill at the finish line. The problem with this was that the trucks had to stop right after the hill, which could make them flip over. This is what happened to Krimson Krusher. Hancock had not yet put a rollcage in the truck, and was lucky to escape unharmed. The body was destroyed in the wreck, and Hancock would rebuild it with an '88 Ford body on top, replacing the '79 body. Jon Breen's Mad Dog wouldn't restart after Larry Cook and Texas Toy were a little late getting to the starting line. This, at that time, gave Cook a bye run. Starting the next year, TNT rules stated that any race after the first round had to be head-to-head.
