Notes: This was the first outdoor event of the year. Bob Breen's Wild Hair was competing with a stock 454 c.i. engine found in a nearby junkyard, after blowing up its blown and injected engine. Surprisingly, on a 400ft. track, the truck was still competitive with the other trucks, although most of the big name trucks were not present at this event. Jeff Dane decided for the 1989 and 1990 seasons to run just one truck, the skinny bodied Awesome Kong, however King Kong would return in 1990 at Bowling Green, OH when the Dane camp decided they needed to remodel Awesome Kong. Jon Breen was having problems all day with the Mad Dog, but advanced as a fast loser anyway.
