Source: A relative's home video collection, he attended numerous Monster Truck events in east Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Georgia. He always brought his video camera with him to capture everything, and he has a lot of really cool old school footage in his horde. Some truly wild stuff that has to be seen to be believed.
This event was held at the Thompson Boling Arena in Knoxville, April 1990. 8 trucks including Gene Patterson and Bigfoot #7 along with Thunder National regulars at the time such as Scott Hess' Bear Foot, Weapon 1, Nitemare III, and Rambo. The passes that Rambo made that evening, both in racing and during the car crush/wheelstand competition, were truly almost out-of-control and was spectacular to watch even on video. During the racing portion it seemed as though lady luck was smiling on Excalibur even though it didn't win a single race, first it gets beat by Scott Hess and Bear Foot, but Bear Foot's driver side wheel shears off right at the planetary after it landed, the tire buckled right into the door and Scott had to use the passenger side door to get out of the truck. Excalibur advanced in his place to challenge Bigfoot in the next round, super close race with Bigfoot just barely edging out Excalibur, but Gene Patterson blew the cylinders in that big, 540 ci triple-carbureted Ford engine in doing so, so Excalibur lucked into the finals where Steve Hess (no relation to Scott) and Nitemare III put him away and was crowned the champion that night in Knoxville.
Rambo won the wheelstand/car crush contest earlier in the show. There were also a few passes made by a jet quad between rounds and a dirt bike stunt jump.
