Date: September 4, 1998 Location: Pulling Arena @ Grayson County Fairgrounds
I only have my memories to go off of, so bear with me. I was 12 at the time.
Chicago-style racing
Truck/Driver Lineup:
Grave Digger #8- Robert Parker ^As far as I know, Grave Digger was still doing indy shows in 1998 despite SRO/Pace now owning the name and the trucks. By 1999 Grave Digger would be exclusive to Monster Jam.
Bigfoot #9 - Gene Patterson (?) ^just prior to #9 being shipped to Brazil. At this event it was still sporting the '97 singlecab body and white rims. It may have been Gene behind the wheel but I could be wrong.
Samson - Dan Patrick
Carolina Crusher - Gary Porter
Predator - Allen Pezo
Equalizer - David Morris
Wild Thang - Tony Farrell
Tropical Thunder - Guy Wood
ROUND 1:
Bigfoot def. Wild Thang
Samson def. Equalizer
Carolina Crusher def. Tropical Thunder
Grave Digger def. Predator
*Samson suffered engine failure and started billowing smoke at the end of it's race, hence Samson was unable to come back for the next round
SEMI-FINALS:
Bigfoot def. Equalizer
Grave Digger def. Carolina Crusher
FINALS:
Bigfoot def. Grave Digger
*Grave Digger was ahead going into the last turn, but it's passenger side tires hooked into the tacky clay, causing the Digger to bicycle and nearly roll over but Parker managed to save the truck while Bigfoot snuck away with the win.
The event also featured motocross and a roll-over contest.
